WIRELESS WALKER DISTANCE TRACKING SYSTEM Client: Tina Reese, Colorado Springs RN; Design Problem: Physical Therapists (PTs) track progress made in patients using walkers by recording the distance travelled each session. This is difficult since it is done in varied locations from hallways to outdoors without premarked distance markers leaving the PT to estimate progress or bring a tape measurer to every session. Our client was seeking an easy, reliable and cost effective electronic solution for accurate measurement. Solution: MIND Studios created a wireless magnetic distance tracking system adapted to the common walker wheel so it could be easily carried by the PT and applied to any patient's walker. Using very easy commands, the PT can track the exact distance and time their patient walks during each rehabilitation session.
